Chinese American Film Festival | Chinese American TV Festival

The Chinese American Film Festival and Chinese American TV Festival was founded by EDI Media Inc., and jointly supported by the Information Office of the State Council of China, the China Film Administration, the State Administration of Radio and Television of China, the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Los Angeles, and the Los Angeles County. It is an annual Sino-American film and television industry event officially recognized by mainstream film and television institutions and associations in China and the United States. Every November, the Chinese American Film Festival and the Chinese American TV Festival hold a grand Opening Ceremony and the “Golden Angel” Award Ceremony in Hollywood, the entertainment capital of the world. Los Angeles County and the city of Los Angeles named November and the Opening Day of the Chinese American Film Festival and Chinese American TV Festival as “Chinese American Film Festival and Chinese American TV Festival Month” and “Chinese American Film Festival and Chinese American TV Festival” respectively.

Over the past 20 years, nearly 9,500 Chinese and American cinematic masterpieces have signed up for the “Golden Angel Award”, and more than 8,000 excellent Chinese and American films have been screened, with more than 20,000,000 viewers. The Chinese American Film Festival is the only annual Chinese and American film culture event held in Hollywood, United States and recognized by the Chinese and American governments and industries. It is the only film cultural event that has been listed as a national project in the list of high-level people-to-people exchanges between China and the United States in 2014 and 2016; The only Chinese-American film cultural event written in the annual report of the United States Congress in the form of a text and recorded in the history of the United States Congress; The only overseas film festival on behalf of the Chinese film market to award the most popular U.S. film in China; The only U.S.-China film exchange program affirmed by a signed letter from two United States presidents.


Since the 9th Chinese American Film Festival in 2013, the organizing committee has added the “Golden Angel Award” for outstanding Chinese TV dramas, opening a new platform for Sino-US TV cooperation and exchanges. In 2016, the TV Drama Department and the International Department of the State Administration of Radio and Television of China co-hosted the “Sino-US TV Drama Cooperation Forum” with the Organizing Committee and witnessed the signing ceremony of Sino-US TV drama co-production during the Chinese American Film Festival, promoting the co-production and cooperation between the Chinese and American TV industries. In 2017, with the approval of the State Administration of Radio and Television of China, the “Golden Angel Award TV Drama Unit” was officially upgraded to the “Chinese American TV Festival”. More than a dozen TV stations and online platforms in China and the United States, including CCTV Movie Channel, Beijing Satellite TV, Dragon TV, Old Story Channel, Discovery Journey Channel, Zhejiang International Channel, Guangdong Radio and Television Greater Bay Area Satellite TV, Hong Kong Asia Television News Channel, Guizhou Film and Television Art Channel, iQiyi, iCiTi TV, etc., broadcast and reported the grand occasion of the Chinese American Film Festival and the Chinese American TV Festival Award Ceremony.

Every November, the Chinese American Film Festival hosts a series of events in more than 20 locations in Hollywood, Los Angeles, San Francisco and other cities. The main activities include: the Opening Ceremony and the “Golden Angel Award” Award Ceremony, the Film & TV Summit and Showcase, the Cooperation Signing Ceremony, the Release of New Works, Meeting with Star, the Charity Concert and Public Welfare Activities, as well as a series of screenings and broadcasts held in mainstream cinemas, universities, museums and communities in United States.
