From the evening of August 7 to the early morning of August 8, 2010, heavy rainfall triggered debris flow disaster in Zhouqu County, Gannan Prefecture, Gansu Province, which affected tens of thousands of local people. Many surviving children either lost their parents or were injured and disabled. Under the cordial care of the CPC Central Committee, Xinzhou Middle School was established and opened in Qinwangchuan in September 2012. Zhouqu children who lost their homes and campuses in the disaster were received by this new “home” and began a new life of reading.
